Visual learning style

If you have a Visual learning style you will probably have a preference learning by seeing things such as pictures, diagrams, demonstrations, displays, handouts, films, flipchart, etc.

You will be best able to perform a new task after reading the instructions or watching someone else do it first. You are good at working from lists, written directions and instructions.Visual people prefer to read the handouts and look at the illustrations the presenter puts on the board. They also tend to take excellent notes.

Action plan

If you are a visual learner, you can help your own learning with the following ideas:

Use pictures or diagrams to help your learning

Make notes to read and reread

Eliminate distractions

Write things down because you remember them better

Look at a person while they are talking to help you focus

It’s better to work in a quiet place

You are often better studying on your own

Use colour to highlight main ideas in your work

When learning vocabulary or terminology use colour to learn them –  look at the words  frequently

Write out notes using different coloured pens

Draw diagrams and charts

Use visual timetables for homework or revision schedules

Rewrite facts, formulas, information, notes and pin them around your room.

Use pictorial reminders

Visually organise your notes into columns, page, sections and forms

Use mind maps to plan what you need to do or to remember key facts.
