Your Future Your Life
Your Future, your Life, is a new project run by the University of Central Lancashire aimed at motivating young people to aim higher, attend school more and achieve more.
It has been tested in the North West of the UK before being made available to every school across the UK.

Our Vision
Your Future Your Life is aimed at developing a school based peer-led resource for self-development to overcome barriers to learning, achievement and motivation at school.
The Project consists of the development of an interactive skills toolkit, based on existing psychological models, focusing on Boredom Proneness, Learning Styles, Motivation, Anger Control and Dealing with Stress.
The Kit consists of self-led/self-diagnostic surveys, questionnaires and information helping students identify their own barriers to learning, achievement and motivation. It will enable them, with the support of a Peer Mentor, to devise their own work plan to address these barriers.
The key issues we are trying to address are young people’s disengagement from school, challenging behaviours, truancy and exclusion. This is affected by:
- Motivation, or lack thereof, including low or different aspirations, some as a result of cultural difference and often out of step with those of their school
- Anger and negative relationships with teachers and in families
- Boredom and disengagement, often as a result of discrepancy of learning styles with style of teaching delivery
- Stress due to difficult home environment, stress of exams, managing workload or other personal circumstances
